In Washington DC, Black-owned art galleries redefine spaces of belonging in a changing city

The nation's capital is home to a network of several dozen museums and galleries, including more than 20 devoted primarily to exhibiting visual art. Only a handful of galleries are Black-owned in the place once known as the "Chocolate City."
